Our Story

Since 1938

The Deep River Historical Society envisions itself as an integral partner in a community that embraces its heritage.

The Deep River Historical Society collects, preserves, and communicates the rich history of the Town of Deep River to the public through exhibits, programs, research collections, and publications. Founded in 1938, it is a private non-profit corporation, governed by a board of trustees drawn from the membership. Membership is open to all interested persons.

Ongoing Society activities include the maintenance of the Stone House, the Carriage House and the Bleach House, the preservation of the historic collections and research resources, regular visiting hours for members and the public, an annual calendar of social, educational and cultural programs, outreach projects with schools and senior groups, and collaborations with other community organizations.
