Waterfalls to the Wharf aims to familiarize readers with Deep River’s history and the mills and factories that lined its shores. Starting from its origin the narrative follows the river downstream for six miles until it reaches the Connecticut River spotlighting the factories along its banks. Given the evolution of factory sites over time we endeavor to narrate the stories of these changes whenever feasible. For instance with the transition from water to steam power new factories emerged across the town allof which are documented in this account. Through these tales readers gain insight into the enterprising individuals and innovators who contributed to the production and employment landscape of this close-knit community.
